Courts where you can petition for bankruptcy in England and Wales

Not all courts in England and Wales can deal with bankruptcy cases. Magistrate Courts for example do not handle bankruptcy cases.

You will need to petition for bankruptcy either at the High Court in London or at the County Court nearest to where you have lived for the longest period in the previous six months.

If you live in one court district and run a business in another, you should go to the court dealing with the district where your business is located as this takes priority over your home address.
